cholesterol itself with no change to their cholesterol levels at all. But other studies showed an immediate increase in cholesterol levels with high fat diets and/or high cholesterol intake. So what is it that makes the difference? The answer to that question is so simple, so natural, so healthy and so easy to do that it actually makes some people angry when they discover what it is! A proven, effective, drug-free, dietary procedure for normalizing cholesterol levels and attaining optimal HDL to LDL levels can be completely summarized in just two simple words: Restrict carbohydrates! It’s certainly safer than any of the prescription cholesterol drugs which can, themselves, cause a host of problems including rheumatoid arthritis-like symptoms and muscle weakness to the point of weakness in the diaphragm and/or weak heart beats – low blood pressure. The onset of symptoms from these cholesterol lowering drugs can appear within hours! In my own practice, I’ve seen two patients nearly die from the side effects of statin drugs (cholesterol lowering medications) that their regular doctors prescribed for them. D. E.’s doctor placed him on cholesterol lowering drugs in 1999. Within days, he developed shortness of breath, weakness, abnormally low blood pressure and such severe joint pains throughout his entire body, that he and his wife truly believed he had suddenly developed rheumatoid arthritis overnight! (Which just doesn’t happen.) When we explained rheumatoid arthritis to him, and he understood that it would be rare indeed for it to develop so severely in such a short time, he questioned his druggist about the cholesterol medication. The druggist dismissed the possibility, even though it’s a clearly stated side effect in the literature that comes with the drug. His blood pressure dropped so low that he had difficulty standing. His muscles became so weak that he had difficulty breathing. But his regular doctor agreed with the druggist. Frightened and losing faith in his doctor, he sought a second opinion with his doctor at the Veteran’s Administration hospital.
