Unfortunately, there’s a lot of dangerous misinformation about cholesterol floating around in both the professional healthcare community and the general public. It’s in the magazines and the newspapers. It’s on TV and the internet. It’s even in doctors’ offices. You see article after article in one medium after another, each quoting the other, perpetuating these unfortunate and dangerous misunderstandings without validation. Just a little education in biochemistry tells us that something just isn’t adding up. When I started doing my research for this book, I was amazed at how simple the truth about this subject really is and how well it’s actually backed up by quality medical research and good-old-fashioned, common sense. For instance, award-winning author, Sheldon Zerden, lists more than 100 misunderstandings held out to be facts by many, if not the majority, of healthcare professionals today, in his book “The Cholesterol Hoax.” I was particularly impressed by this particular work because every incorrect concept he addresses, he refutes with a referenced study. I highly recommend this as required reading material for anyone who is concerned about cholesterol levels. I was also appalled to discover how completely this basic, scientific information about cholesterol is ignored by the very people who should be the most reliable experts – healthcare professionals. page 18
